Stepping Into A Custom Bar Mirror Fantasy

I headed down the lengthy hallway, moving over the green shag carpet I cherished so much. When I reached the bar, I caught a glimpse of myself in one of the bar wall mirrors . I read the "fun never ends" citation that is etched on top of the mirror and wonder. Is it at all times a party? How long can the fun last? Certainly it was a fun evening. Some friends had gathered at my place to share a meal, some tales, and a few drinks.

Looking at the image of my tired eyes reflected in the personalized bar mirror , I changed my mind about having a gin and tonic after all. Tired, I settled onto the chair and turned on the television. Home and Garden TV always has something going on that will put me to slumber. I must have drifted off as I began to dream. I began to dream almost instantly. The presenter of the home improvement show was in my home with me, parading around and pointing out the flaws. The whole roofing is insecure." He started with the roofing above my living space. "This ceiling could be easily changed," he said. He moved on to another room, leading me around like I didn't live there. We were standing before my home bar. "This is beautiful," he expressed, running his hands over the classic bar. "I'll have to try it out before I make my final decision," he said. Instantly, the whiskey bottle was in my hand, and I made us two stiff drinks.

"Okay, I' ll pour you a pina colada." "The only thing I would change about this room is the color," he said, still sipping. Signaling to the walls, he began to list the colors emerging in mind. Unexpectedly, he had a paint roller in his hand and was painting the walls a vivacious green. We completed the first wall very quickly and walked on to the others, now painting them bright yellow. We rewarded ourselves for our speedy work with an additional whiskey on the rocks. He raised his glass and said, "A toast to the fastest painters in the world."

I observed my cheeks go red as I knew my home wasn't going to meet his standards. Knowing I did not lay this year's paint on the walls may not have been my biggest sin. Regardless that I was dreaming, I felt abashed by my home's out-of-date décor. We got back to my house-basement bar. "This bar mirror is outstanding," he expressed, stopping to take a good look at it. "Did you create the etched mirror?" I smiled, looking at my happiness reflected in the bar mirror. "Wow, that makes this area feel pretty special", he told me. Without warning, he pulled out a saw and sliced the bar in half. Shards of wood fly all over. We are all quickly wearing eye protection.

A voice cryptically appears out of the blue. It said, "Will the Hudsons choose the home with the swimming pool, the fixer upper, or the house with half a bar and some beautiful customized bar mirrors?"

"Honey. Honey. Rise." I notice my wife is starting to switch off the TV as I come out of my weird dream. "Hang on!" I say to her, " I would like to see which house they selected." She watches me wonderingly. "Oh, the show…they chose house number three," she told me.

As I stroll back up the stairs I smile getting it was the sawed off bar and customized bar mirrors that they couldn't resist.
